Instant Pot Turkey Breast

  4.6 – 74 reviews  • Turkey Breast

The turkey breast I prepared in the Instant Pot is the moistest I’ve ever had. Normally, I would spend the entire day cooking this in the slow cooker, but the Instant Pot makes it so much better. I couldn’t believe I prepared such a delicious supper in just an hour!

Prep Time: 10 mins
Cook Time: 35 mins
Additional Time: 20 mins
Total Time: 1 hr 5 mins
Servings: 8
Yield: 6 pounds

Ingredients

  1. 1 (1 ounce) package onion soup mix
  2. 1 (6 pound) turkey breast, thawed
  3. 2 ribs celery, cut into large chunks
  4. 1 onion, cut into large chunks
  5. 1 cup chicken broth
  6. 2 tablespoons water
  7. 1 tablespoon cornstarch, or more as needed

Instructions

  1. Sprinkle onion soup mix all over turkey breast and place in the pot of an electric pressure cooker (such as Instant Pot). Arrange celery and onion over and around turkey. Pour chicken broth over turkey.
  2. Seal and lock the lid. Select high/low pressure on the Poultry setting or according to manufacturer’s instructions; cook until juices run clear, about 30 minutes. Release pressure using the natural-release method according to manufacturer’s instructions, about 20 minutes. Transfer turkey to a plate and slice; cover to keep warm.
  3. Switch to the Sauté setting. Mix together water and cornstarch in a small bowl; stir in a small amount of hot liquid from the pot until combined. Pour back into the pot and whisk until gravy is well thickened, about 3 minutes. Serve gravy alongside sliced turkey.

My recommendation (and what I did): pour the broth over the breast, then sprinkle the soup mix, THEN add the veggies. If you pour the broth over the soup mix, you’re washing most of the soup mix off of the breast because you didn’t do anything to prep the breast to make the soup mix stick.

8# 40 minutes and perfect! Great flavor Very excited for Turkey Sammy’s with garden tomatoes! Thank you

I made this twice. It is so easy, and the turkey comes out tender and flavorful in less than an hour! Quick, easy and delicious with gravy recipe included. Make holiday dinners less stressful because you can concentrate on preparing side dishes while the turkey cooks.

Followed the recipe exactly, but had to increase it for a 8.25 lb turkey breast. Everyone loved it. Gravy was easy & tasted wonderful with home made mashed potatoes. Will definitely make again.

Easy and tasty. I skipped the gravy – just looking for a quick way to cook ahead. A keeper!

I used already cooked 4 lb turkey and reduced the time and it was great!

This recipe was perfect! The Turkey was literally falling off the bone and juicy. I’m usually a dark meat fan because white meat can be dry, depending on where you get it. I’m never eating dry white meat again! I added extra celery & onion, and cooked an 8 lb Turkey for 45 minutes on high pressure. It seemed almost too easy to make a whole Turkey breast! Thanks for the recipe!

Made as instructed but added 10 minutes to make sure it was done inside. Very moist and tasty, however, for leftovers, it was just as dry as any leftover turkey is. On the up side, it was super easy and quick.

The turkey was cooked to perfection. It fell off the bone in the Instapot. The turkey was moist and flavorful.

Super moist! Doesn’t taste too “turkey” which was great for those who typically don’t like turkey.

Quick way to cook a turkey breast and still maintain quality.

This was likely the easiest, and best, turkey I have made. Turned out both flavorful and tender. I will need to rework the gravy as it was very runny, but it still had great flavor and complemented the side dishes nicely. Will certainly make this again!

I was very disappointed how this turned out. I had a 5.5 lb turkey breast. I followed the directions except increased the cooking time to 40 minutes as some of the reviews suggested. It was so bland and chewy. I won’t be making this again.

It was so easy. I have 3 grown sons and they raved it was the best Turkey they have ever eaten! Moist and tasty. I am a vegetarian and have never made a Turkey before but with staying home for thanksgiving this year I was desperate for something easy but good. We won’t wait until next Thanksgiving to make it again!!

My husband and I made this for Thanksgiving. He makes a juicy turkey every year. This recipe rendered a dry, bland turkey and the “gravy” was extremely thin, even with cornstarch. Glad I bought a jar of gravy for insurance.

My breast was 2.5 lbs, it was a half breast, so I cut the cooking time down to 13 minutes. Used natural release but when I checked the internal temperature it was at 130 degrees. I finished it in the oven at 350 and it took another 20 minutes to reach 163. It was moist and tasty but I would have used the full 30 minutes in the pot. The gravy part worked out great.

This was the easiest and best Thanksgiving turkey and gravy I have ever made.

Used my own seasonings since I did not have onion soup mix. Had a 6 pound turkey breast. It turned out great & the broth is great for soup for another day! Just add your favorite veggies & leftover turkey for a great soup.

The turkey was juicy but didn’t have much taste which surprised me. I thought using onion soup would permeate through to the meat but it really didn’t. I won’t make this again.
