A delicious change of pace, marramamba
The sandwich is CALLED a Hungarian. It doesn’t mean it’s actually Hungarian. I’ve seen this at some delis on my home town. You folks must just NEED to mince over words. Grow up.
Hello! I’m hungarian and I never heard about these kind of sendwich …:-(
My grandchildren love this! Me, too
Who cares if it is Hungarian or not. As for the person who claims this is basically a lame recipe must be really creative and should try out for the Next Food Network Star. Sometimes recipes are more of a concept and a blend of different ingredients that are really simple. I would have never thought of cream cheese, cherry jelly and rye bread. I was surprised at how good this tasted. I make this several times a week to have as a snack at work. I am going to try some other flavors of jam/jelly like Lisa suggested. It is a nice change from peanut butter and jelly sandwiches.
The only thing Hungarian, the only part that Hungary plays, is the Black Cherry Jam, which is not as sweet as other black cherry jams. I don’t seem to be able to get it here in Louisville, but I will keep looking!
It’s a delicious sandwich, and I just wonder if some of the people commenting on this website even watch the shows! She admits that it is not authentic Hungarian food!
First of all, this is NOT Hungarian. C’mon, use Austrian bread. HELLO! And Jason, get over yourself. The person you think was rude, was honest. I don’t come to a respected sight to be told to smear creme cheese on bread. . Get Real. Nigella is not Hungarian, the Armenian reviewer endorsed the sandwich and we’re told to use Austrian bread. I can’t say enough on how stunned I am by this recipe. And this would be a recipe in a child’s cookbook- nowhere else.
I searched “Nigella” on this site and have found that this recipe is #1. All comments are about one year old. This is stale info and is obviously being poorly monitored. Not to mention there is little info on this show in general.
Please at least let her and her PR folks manage her content on this site as the FN is doing a poor job of it. I’d like to see one episode on in the evening during the week, if possible. Surely she has newer stuff. But there is no update I can find on FN either.
Please update your website FN!
I wasn’t sure about the combo but it’s quite tasty and filling.
