Ingredients
- 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon kosher salt
- 2 sticks (1 cup) unsalted butter, room temperature
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup packed light brown sugar
- 2 tablespoons vanilla extract
- 2 large eggs, at room temperature
- 8 ounces semisweet chocolate chips
- 1 cup coarsely chopped dried sweet cherries
Instructions
- Heat the oven to 350 degrees F and arrange a rack in the middle. Whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt in a large bowl until evenly combined; set aside.
- Using a stand mixer fitted with a paddle attachment beat together the butter and sugars over medium speed until light and fluffy, about 3 minutes. Add the eggs 1 at a time, beating well after each addition. Reduce the speed to low, add the flour mixture and mix until just combined. Stir in the chocolate and cherries until they are uniformly distributed.
- Scoop the dough by rounded tablespoons onto a baking sheet. Bake until the cookie edges are golden brown, about 14 minutes. Leave the cookies on the baking sheets on racks for 3 minutes. Repeat this process with the remaining dough. Using a spatula, transfer the cookies to racks to cool completely before serving.

Reviews
I very rarely leave reviews but these cookies are so tasty they warrant it! Followed the recipe and couldn’t keep the cookie jar full! Made them for cookie exchange and was voted the best tasting. Grandkids request them so much I have to keep some in freezer for the husband. Dare I say “perfect”?!! Great job Aida thank you.
Great! I was looking for a cherry cookie recipe… I had never made any.- but I love cherries. I used home mad vanilla, used another reviewers advice to fridge the dough, another’s advice to drizzle chocolate. … And they are FABULOUS! Thanks!
so delish!
these are some of the best cookies i have ever made all though you forgot to put in when to add the vanilla i did it in with the sugar and butter
Very tasty! Vanilla was omitted from the directions but I caught that error right away. Wish the directions would have specified if the cookie sheets needed to be greased. I did grease them and had no problems with the cookies
very good cookie i didnt taste any valilla (remember to add it i drizzled white chocolate on the top
These are the best cookies
These were great, and a nice change of pace. The recipe method does omit the vanilla, but I added it with the eggs. I also refrigerated the batter before baking to reduce the spreading, and only let them cool about 1 minute before moving to wire racks so they wouldnt stick to the pans. Next time I’ll add toasted pecans.
This is a great recipe but I think it would be really helpful to have the instructions rewritten. I chose this recipe for the use of vanilla and while I busy following the instructions I completely forgot to add the vanilla… my homemade vanilla that I have been waiting to try for a while… I was pretty bummed about my mistake but my husband still gobbled them up! I plan to try this recipe again sometime soon and hopefully I won’t forget to add the vanilla 🙂
