An excellent dill dip! Although my mum gave me the recipe and warned me not to share it, I believe everyone should be able to enjoy it. Making this dip the day before is much better. It produces so much that it may be easily cut in half.

As the recipe is written, it’s a dud. Makes wayyyy too much. Salt level is too much. Thank you to commenters- I didn’t have to throw it out. I used onion powder (Not salt). I’d also make it with Greek yogurt rather than sour cream to go well with the dill and maybe reduce Mayo by half. In general halve the recipe will be more than you need unless you’re drinking it by the glass. Publishers need to revise recipe.
Tastes great but next time I’m going to reduce the seasoning salt and I’ll try a 3:1 sour cream(or plain yogurt) : mayo ratio
I made it the first time with the salt and had to throw it away made it the second time with sprinkling a tiny bit of salt and it was good
This is not a complicated recipe and will encourage shaving of vegetables! Will be most traditional as-is, but can modify as you like without risk. I usually use Greek yogurt instead of sour cream, less mayo, beau monde, onion flakes or powder.
Way too salty. No one ate it.
I definitely like the dip. It seemed very gritty when I first made it but it tasted fine. That was probably because of the age of my dill and parsley more than anything so I’m not faulting that at all. I served it the next day and the grittiness was gone so that time in the refrigerator definitely helped. I think it tasted even better the next day. I only used 1 1/2 teaspoons of salt as well, as another reviewer pointed out. I’m glad I didn’t use the 1 1/2 tablespoons the recipe called for otherwise it would have been way too salty. Very good recipe all in all!
I have made this several time now and I love this recipe except for the salt level. I am a person who loves salt but this was too much even for me. I agree with another reviewer that there was a mistake. It should be 1 1/2 teaspoons NOT tablespoons. It is perfect with this change.
Really yummy! I grated the onion and it’s so much better than pieces of onion.
It was ruined by the season salt. Added another 1/2 recipes of the other ingredients and it was still way to salty.
Super tasty! will for sure be making this again!
My family LOVES dill so I have made a lot of dill dips over the years, and this one is by far the favorite. It’s the grated onion that really sets it apart and makes it amazing. It’s also the grated onion that makes it too strong for most people the day you make it, but the next day it will get rave reviews. It’s particularly good on roast beef or other deli sandwiches.
Used spicy seasoned salt for a little extra kick.
No changes and I’ll be making it often! It was a big hit!
Made this on a whim for a party. It was delish! I will be making this again.
I read the reviews and cut the season salt in half. Didn’t think it was dill-y enough so added an extra tsp of dill. Also added 2 tsp of paprika to sneak in extra vitamin c(I do this to everything I make, paprika doesn’t change taste). Will definitely make again.
The BEST dip EVER!!
Made as stated, I give this 4 stars. The flavor is really good, but it is too salty and has just a tad too much of a mayo taste. Next time I will cut the amount of season salt in half and taste test from there to see if more is needed. I think I will also cut back the amount of mayonnaise to 3/4 cup and taste to see if more is needed from there.
Pretty good, obviously makes a LOT. Unfortunately, it’s way too early for my husband and I. Still good enough to eat, but only very little at a time. Next time, I’ll halve the seasoning salt.
Perfect as written. I always get compliments. So much better than ranch as a vegetable dip.
Just watch the seasoning salt. I would only put in 1/2 then try it. It was a little to salty for me
This is a good recipe, but it is way too salty. I think there might be an error in how much seasoning salt to use. I had to keep adding more sour cream and some sugar to tame the saltiness!
