Ingredients
- 2 teaspoons lemon pepper
- 2 teaspoons black pepper
- 2 teaspoons salt
- 2 teaspoons garlic salt
- 1 teaspoon cayenne pepper
- 4 large size chicken halves
- 1 can or bottle of beer (recommended: Coors beer)
Instructions
- Mix the seasonings together in a small bowl and sprinkle onto the chicken halves. Let the seasoned chicken sit, covered, in the refrigerator at least 1 hour and a half before grilling.
- Preheat the grill. Place the chicken, bone side down, onto the grill and leave for at least 15 minutes to make sure the seasoning sticks. Gently turn the chicken over and continue to let it cook for another 15 minutes.
- Pop the seal of the beer can just enough to spray a fine mist over the chicken without disrupting or extinguishing your flame. If you are using a bottle of beer, use your thumb to control the amount of liquid coming out of the bottle.
- Turn the chicken often, using the beer to keep it moist, and making sure not to tear the skin.
- Grill until the chicken reaches an internal temperature of 165 degrees F, or its juices run clear, about 1 hour 50 minutes. Remove from the grill and let the chicken rest about 5 minutes before serving.
Reviews
This is the best BBQ chicken ever. Everyone we make it for cannot believe how good it tastes. My husband and I use a charcoal grill. We use a minimum amount of coals so that we can cook the chicken low and slow. To avoid putting the coals out, we hold the chicken aside when we put the beer on it. We use whatever beer we have and we haven’t come across a bad or noticeably different taste with any beer. (Though they have all been amber beers).
So juicy…so easy…my new fave.
cooked up very well, nice blend of spices. I used a whole chicken butterflied on a gas grill and sprayed the beer from a cheap spritzer bottle.
I havn’t even tryed this recipe and can tell you that it will turn out better with Bud! I’ll let u all know.
easy to prepare, i have injoyed this recipe. and it’s taste good my family deserved the effort for this menu.
This recipe was so good. Meat was tender, juicy, smokey and seasoned just right. I had more fun making this recipe than I can describe. Shaking up the bottle of beer and spraying it was a blast. Remember to keep the heat about 300 degrees after the initial 15 minutes, and follow the recipe for perfect grilled chicken.
