Total Time: 1 hr 10 mins
Servings: 100
Yield: 2 1/2 gallons

Ingredients

  1. 1 gallon apple juice
  2. 1 gallon apple cider
  3. 2 cups white sugar
  4. 2 cups brown sugar
  5. 4 cinnamon sticks, or more to taste
  6. 1 pinch apple pie spice
  7. 1 (750 milliliter) bottle 190 proof grain alcohol
  8. 1 (750 milliliter) bottle vodka

Instructions

  1. Combine apple juice, apple cider, white sugar, brown sugar, cinnamon sticks, and apple pie spice in a large pot; bring to almost a boil. Cover the pot with a lid, reduce heat, and simmer for about 1 hour. Remove from heat and cool completely.
  2. Stir grain alcohol and vodka into apple syrup; remove cinnamon sticks.
  3. Pour apple pie moonshine into clean glass jars or bottles. Store in the refrigerator.
  4. I like to use leftover apple juice and cider jugs to store the finished product. Wine and liquor bottles work well too.

The recipe was great then I read the reviews and made some changes and it turned out AMAZING. I used apple cider and apple juice, however I only used 1 cup of white sugar and 2 and 1/2 cups of brown sugar. 4 cinnamon sticks (very important) and 1/2 TBS of apple pie spice (Wal Mart Great value brand worked perfect) I added 1/2 TBS of vanilla and oddly 3 TBS of carmel flavoring (from the dollar store). I followed the directions boil, simmer. Then for the alcohol I added everlear 750 ML bottle, pint of vodka and Pint of Captain Morgan Spiced Rum. Turned out great! When I bottled it I added the carmel flavoring (maybe 2 TBS) to a few of the bottles. When people try it and are worried about the kick this makes it sweeter. I used bottles from the dollar store they have snap tops like the old foster beer bottles. Came out amazing! The carmel and vanilla really help. I also believe the additional brown sugar and less white sugar helps.

Delicious! I’m a light weight for alcohol and found this to be really good. I definitely agree to lessen the sugar maybe by at least a cup. Was kinda sweet after drinking on ice. But the taste is apple and a hint of cinnamon. Yum!

Just finished making this and had to try it warm. OMG delish. My oldest tried it and he hate hard liquor, but he said it was really smooth and good. I make Lemoncello as well but he doesn’t like it.

I have made this recipe many times. I’ve cut sugar down to 2cups of brown sugar only. I also tried Mott’s for Tots apple juice with reduced sugar, didn’t seem to change the taste much. This recipe is the bomb. Neighbors and friends always ask for a jar!

I mix I litre of 190 proof to 1 1/2 litres of this apple pie mix for an enjoyable but potent drink straight outta the jar

I’ve made this recipe before but add my own ingredients and it turns out amazing, take jars to my family reunion and it’s gone quick! I add canned apple’s, whole 750 ml ever clear, whole bottle of 100 proof captain Morgan. Turns out strong but sweet

Followed exactly but it came out really bitter.

I made some changes…I used 2 gallons of cider instead of apple juice. (Cider just tastes better anyway.) I omitted the white sugar, added a half tsp of cinnamon and 1/2 tsp of nutmeg. I cut a vanilla bean in half and let the two halves simmer in the pot and I used 2 cups of spiced rum in place of the vodka… PERFECTION!!

I’ve made this a few times cutting the recipe in half since I don’t have a big enough pot yet. I love it. My friends love it.

Instead of vodka i added double the everclear!

This recipe was extremely delicious. I made this drink in a 5 gallon stock pot on the stove. I added 1 gallon of cider and apple juice, and roughly 16 cinnamon sticks that I bought from the local dollar tree. I thought the 4 cups of sugar was too much, but after tasting the finished product, it was solid. As for the alcohol I filled my stockpot with 750 ml of Everclear, and a 5th of absolute. I filled twelve 20 oz mason jars and stored them for one month before consuming with one cinnamon stick in each. These jars packed a punch. Would definitely make again 10/10.

Truly amazing!

I only give 4 stars because my finished product turned gelatinous after sitting in the fridge a week! Has anyone had this happen before and know why this happened? Other than it turning to gelatin, I tasted it before putting it in the fridge and it was fantastic! I’d love to be able to drink it though!

Taste great and a crowd pleaser. Made mine a little bit stronger by adding some extra everclear I got a jar in mg fridge thats been there for almost a year and wonder if its still good or not

I have made this recipe many times and it has always turned out great! I am not a big fan of cinnamon or added sugar and have always stuck with the below even simpler recipe. 1 gallon juice 1 gallon cider 1 liter Everclear This time I tried a different websites recipe which called for 1 gallon of Indian Summer brand juice and 1 gallon Indian Summer brand cider and 1.75 liters of Everclear. I only put in maybe 1.25 liters of the everclear cause I didnt want it to taste overly powerful of grain alcohol and it still is nearly undrinkable. I have added 4 cups of brown sugar to each gallon jug and it still tastes terrible, I think ill probably just dump it all down the drain at this point! The takeaway of this lesson is never use Indian Summer brand juice as it doesn’t cut the grain alcohol worth a .

I made this for hostess gifts! Easy and delicious!

I used whipped cream flavored vodka and it was amazing!! This is the only recipe I use and I get compliments all the time.

Delicious! Do you have to keep it refrigerated? Will it spoil if not?

I made it just as the recipe is written and it does get better the longer it sits. It was a hit at Thanksgiving with the family in their 20’s mixed with hot apple cider (recipe on all Recipes)
Samuel Smith
I added fireball instead of vodka

Not this first time around. I will make it again.
