Reviews
Rye, yes – and orange bitters if no peel is available. Also a bit higher whisky to vermouth ratio. Please don’t let this be shaken, and the sooner you pour, the better.
I use rye whiskey , knob creek, with ice or stone cubes with bing cherries. Traditionalists probably disagree, but it’s the way I like it. As for the orange peel, take it or leave it. I had a bartender burn the peel and rub it on the rim, very good.

Love it!

Orange peel? Those belong in Old Fashions.
My favorite drink. And if you watch the video, it IS stirred (not shaken). I sometimes just make mine over ice, too, and have it on the rocks.
This drink should be stirred not shaken, no need to add more air.
Such a simple and classic cocktail!!!!!
