Another favorite in my family is this. Everyone has always enjoyed it, and it pairs incredibly well with all types of meat.

Prep Time: 15 mins
Cook Time: 25 mins
Total Time: 40 mins
Servings: 36
Yield: 36 bars

Ingredients

  1. 1 ½ cups graham cracker crumbs
  2. ½ cup butter or margarine, melted
  3. 1 (14 ounce) can EAGLE BRAND® Sweetened Condensed Milk
  4. 2 cups semisweet chocolate morsels
  5. 1 ⅓ cups flaked coconut
  6. 1 cup chopped nuts

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). If using a glass dish, preheat the oven to 325 degrees F (165 degrees C). Coat a 9×13-inch baking dish with cooking spray.
  2. Mix graham cracker crumbs and butter in a bowl until well combined. Transfer the mixture to the prepared baking dish and press onto the bottom.
  3. Pour sweetened condensed milk on graham cracker crust. Sprinkle with an even layer of chocolate chips, coconut, and nuts. Press toppings down firmly with the back of a fork.
  4. Bake in the preheated oven until lightly browned, about 25 minutes. Cool completely, then cut into 36 bars or diamonds.
  5. Store bars in an airtight container at room temperature.
  6. Magic Peanut Cookie Bars: Substitute 2 cups of chocolate-covered peanuts for semisweet chocolate chips and chopped nuts.
  7. Magic Rainbow Cookie Bars: Substitute 2 cups of plain candy-coated chocolate candies for semisweet chocolate chips.
  8. 7-Layer Magic Cookie Bars: Substitute 1 cup of butterscotch-flavored chips (or peanut butter-flavored chips or white chocolate chips) for 1 cup of semisweet chocolate chips.

These were absolutely fantastic. The only change I made was fewer chocolate chips (only about a cup and a quarter) and more nuts. I used a glass pan, but I think 325 was too low. Next time I’ll just do 350 regardless of the pan. I’m also wondering if next time I want to mix half the coconut in with the condensed milk and then toast the rest to put on top so there’s less coconut falling off at the end.

Love them!

This recipe is so great when you need a sweet unexpectedly. This my 3rd time making it and substituting 1/2 the grahams with crushed chex rice and corn cereal b/c I just had 1 pkg. of grahams.

Absolutely delicious! These are really easy to make and the most labor-intensive part is crushing the graham crackers & chopping the nuts. In other words…easy! No mixer or big equipment needed. I used a spatula to mix the butter & graham crackers. I used chocolate chips & butterscotch morsels and I used pecans. Also, instead of pouring all the condensed milk over the graham cracker crust, I poured about half of it and then added a layer of toppings and poured the rest. Then I put the rest of the toppings on top of that. It was just a feeling I had & it worked out great. I mixed all the toppings rather than doing one layer of all chocolate, one layer of all butterscotch, etc. Again, it was just personal preference. I took these to a party & multiple people said ‘Wow!’ so they were a hit. They are very gooey and I thought the crust was a little thin, I may increase the amount of graham crackers and make a slightly thicker crust.(I have since made them again & I increased the amount of graham crackers by 1/2 cup and I increased the amount of butter by about 2 tablespoons in order to create a thicker crust & it worked great!). I’m also wondering about cutting back some on the condensed milk, just for personal taste. You could easily make these the day before.

I blended the melted butter, condensed milk and graham cracker crumbs together and patted out in pan. I also replaced one cup of chocolate chips with a cup of caramel bits. It was a nice combination and so tasty!

My daughter is gluten free and dairy free. I replace the butter with margarine and the graham crackers with oats. I love how easy it is to adjust for allergies and is still so delicious!

I’m making them for my family this weekend. I’ve had this recipe for about 40 years. The recipe was on the Eagle Brand can. We are in the U.K. and can’t get Graham Crackers. I use digestive biscuits, put them in a plastic bag, roll with a rolling pin. I cut them onto 1 inch squares as they are very rich.

Just as I remembered. Yummy!

My mom requested this item because it was something her grandmother would make for her birthday and then came out just like she remembered. I lined the pan with parchment paper instead of spraying the pan with cooking spray but that was the only modification I made.

We love these! I make just as stated, I melt butter while over in preheating to save time and mix graham crackers in and press- so much easier! I also add butterscotch chips, so yummy!

Loved these since I was a kid! They are my favorite bar cookie, simple & not a lot of ingredients, but the taste is amazing.(almost a candy bar) I never used cooking spray, but melt the butter in my pan while the oven preheats, then stir the graham crackers in with a fork & pat down. Viola! No extra dishes to clean For the person who said there were too many chips, I guess you’re not a chocolate person. Myself-if it’s not chocolate, it’s not worth the time to make and certainly not worth the sugar & calories added to my diet!

Followed the recipe exactly except substituted a cup of white chocolate chips. Used parchment paper in the pan for ease of cleaning and cutting. Came out great just with this recipe. No crumbling issues. My family loved it. I will be making again.

I have been making these Magic Bars for more than 30 years. They are great just as the recipe is. I have tried many different combinations of tops over the years. Try what you like in them, you can’t go wrong.

My grandmother made these as a treat when we spent weekends at her house and they were mine and my sisters favorite! I was thinking of this recently and decided to make them! I used two graham cracker pie shells and transferred to a baking dish drizzled a little extra butter over them and pressed down. I added two cans of the condensed milk and then layered dark, milk and white chocolate chips! I chose walnuts and slivered almonds to layer next with coconut topped off! It was a hit my family loved them said it was like homemade candy bars! These were very rich so small squares were better! I was thinking of trying a layer of peanut or almond butter on top of the graham crackers layer next time

Delicious.

I found them too sweet. Next time I will try unsweetened coconut. And maybe more nuts.

I love these rich, delicious bars, because you can make them ahead of time, and they are always a hit (unless someone doesn’t like coconut). I like using different combinations of chips and nuts to add a little variety.

I love this recipe! I once made it a different way though. I used crushed Oreo cookies instead of graham crackers, and plain M&Ms instead of chocolate chips.

I got this recipe in the 60’s, however we make chocolate truffles so I left out the chocolate, switched out the walnuts for pecans. Layered graham cracker crust, bobs red mill shredded coconut, the best pecans that I can find and then pour the condensed milk over all. My young stepson calls it cändy. There’s never too much.

made all the different ways for years and they are delicious

My Aunt Shirley used to make these for all the birthday parties, baby showers when I was a kid. They were my favorite! I got to thinking of her the other day,she passed away a few years ago and decided to make these for my sister’s for Thanksgiving. I’m sure only she and I will eat them because none of her kids or grandkids like nuts, so more for us!! They are cooking now and smell heavenly, just like I remember! Thank you!
