Ingredients
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 3 eggs, slightly beaten
- Juice of 1/2 orange (about 3 tablespoons)
- 1 cup sugar
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter (1 stick), plus extra for greasing the pan, at room temperature
- 3 ripe bananas, mashed
- 3 tablespoons mini chocolate chips
- 2 tablespoons confectioners’ sugar, for dusting
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F.
- Sift together the flour, baking soda and salt in a medium bowl. Mix together the vanilla, eggs and orange juice in a measuring cup or small bowl. Cream the sugar and butter in a medium bowl until pale yellow and fluffy, about 5 minutes. Add in the egg mixture and beat until creamy. Mix in the bananas until smooth. Pour the flour in 2 batches into the batter and mix on low speed until incorporated. Stir in the chocolate chips with a wooden spoon. Pour into a greased loaf pan and bake 1 hour, covering lightly with foil if the top gets too brown. Cool, remove from the pan and slice. Serve dusted with the confectioners’ sugar.

We’ve used this recipe many times and absolutely love it!
Incredibly easy to make and delicious every time! I admittedly doubled the chocolate chips because, well, who doesn’t want more chocolate?! 10/10 would recommend!
It’s in the oven but I’ll keep you posted.
I add more chocolate chips, but this banana bread is awesome!
I love this recipe so easy to make I also add cinnamon and instead of the orange juice, I use a little strawberry yogurt
Made exactly to recipe. Delicious! Family loves it.
Super simple and absolutely delicious every time!!!! It doesn’t last long in my house. I add a half cup of crushed walnuts and a half cup of the Nestle Toll House semi sweet chocolate chips. The top nicely browns and gets crunchy. It won’t if you cover it as the recipe mentions.
Delicious! I was far more generous with the chocolate chips to please my family- also baking time was 70minutes not 60minutes. Top was nice a brown but not burned and inside completely cooked but not overcooked or dry.
I’ve been using Melissa’s recipe; it’s great not heavy my husband is not a banana bread fan but he loves this recipe. Thanks Melissa!
Great recipe. No sogginess whatsoever but just really light and very tasty. Mini morsels give more a hint of chocolate flavor that isn’t heavy. Taking this to a hotel this weekend where lots of family is gathering for a wedding.
