Simple and Satisfying Broccoli

Ingredients

  1. 1 head broccoli
  2. 1/4 cup water
  3. 1 tablespoon olive oil
  4. 1 clove garlic, minced
  5. 1/2 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes
  6. Kosher salt and freshly ground black pepper

Instructions

  1. Trim the woody skin off the broccoli stem and slice the broccoli into nice long “trees”. In a large saucepan, mix the water, olive oil, garlic, red pepper flakes, salt, and pepper. Bring to a boil over high heat. Add the broccoli and cover to steam. After 3 minutes, turn off the heat, and allow the broccoli to sit for another couple of minutes. Toss to coat and serve.

Thank you for the Simply and Satisfying Broccoli recipe. I forgot and left the broccoli in the pan for more than 3 resting minutes and of course it cooked more but was still good. Since making this dish I have cooked asparagus, cauliflower, and baby broccoli the same way and it comes out very tasty with a little bit of crunch. It’s good.
