My Tais

I created my own Mai Tai recipe because I could never find one that met my standards. There are numerous Mai Tai recipes out there that largely rely on the rum for flavor. Anyone can enjoy this drink as a virgin, and it’s simple to mix up the party by adding a little rum.

Prep Time: 10 mins
Total Time: 10 mins
Servings: 2
Yield: 2 servings

Ingredients

  1. 1 cup crushed ice, or as needed
  2. ½ cup orange juice
  3. ½ cup pineapple juice
  4. 1 tablespoon grenadine syrup
  5. 1 ½ teaspoons lime juice
  6. 1 tablespoon cream of coconut
  7. 1 (1.5 fluid ounce) jigger rum
  8. 1 (1.5 fluid ounce) jigger spiced rum
  9. ¼ cup club soda, or as needed

Instructions

  1. Fill 2 glasses with ice.
  2. Gently stir orange juice, pineapple juice, grenadine, and lime juice together in a small pitcher; stir in cream of coconut.
  3. Mix rum and spiced rum together in a small glass. Pour rum mixture into the 2 glasses and top with orange juice mixture. Top off each glass with club soda.
  4. This mixture keeps well so I’ll usually make a huge batch by multiplying the recipe by 12 to make a little less than a gallon. The only thing you have to worry about in keeping the mixture is keeping your club soda fresh and sparkling.
  5. Run the container of cream of coconut under warm water for 60 seconds to get a better consistency.
