Ingredients

  1. 1/2 cup sugar
  2. 1 tablespoon fennel seeds
  3. 1 tablespoon coriander seeds
  4. 2 cups white cranberry juice
  5. 3/4 cup pear brandy
  6. 2 pears, thinly sliced
  7. 1 750-ml bottle dry sparkling hard cider

Instructions

  1. Bring 1/2 cup water, the sugar, and fennel and coriander seeds to a simmer in a small saucepan over high heat. Reduce the heat to medium low; cook until the sugar dissolves, about 5 minutes. Let cool, then transfer to an airtight container and refrigerate overnight.
  2. A few hours before serving, strain the syrup into a pitcher. Add the cranberry juice, brandy and pears. Refrigerate until ready to serve.
  3. Add the sparkling cider to the pitcher and stir. Serve over ice.
