Really loved this recipe it’s similar to what my mom use I hate watery yams but more so candied yams. This recipe was amazing my yams came out perfect over the stove top. I haven’t tried it in the oven some people oven version comes out to watery for me so I probably will stick to the stove top version
We love this recipe. So yummy.
Absolutely excellent! It reminds me of the sweet potatoes we had in Louisiana and it was such a pleasure to eat. I would not change a single thing about this recipe, although it wouldn’t hurt if you ended up adding an extra tablespoon of butter (for the fat lovers out there). 🙂
Delicious!!
Yummy
Delicious hit the spot .
Love them reminds me of my Granny’s
It was easy even for me! I don’t cook and they were delicious!
I made a test run of the potatoes several days before cause I had never tried to do them this way. They were very good only way too sweet for me and my family. This is my second attempt and I will tell you how they went by changing from 2 cups white sugar to 1 cup brown sugar.
@pretty_in_pink_pa, I don’t know what recipe you were referring to, but sweet potatoes are certainly not spicy! This is a great recipe with the perfect blend of sweetness and flavor. To make it even better, I would add just a hint of lemon juice to it.
No hi
I added a cap full of Kentucky Bourbon Delicious!
They turned out great.
Very delicious. Received rave kudos for these sweet potatoes. The recipe was made with Japanese sweet potatoes fro Trader Joe’s. I used brown sugar instead of white sugar. It took about 10 less minutes of cooking than directed in the recipe.
I made these Candied Sweet Potatoes for Thanksgiving and they were delicious! The sweet potatoes were tender before the syrup thickened so I poured it off into a saucepan to simmer. Once it was thickened I poured it back over the sweet potatoes.
Best sweet potatoes me and my family had! Served at Thanksgiving this year and used half white and half brown sugar, the vanilla made the potatoes sing with every bite! Was very easy to make, a definite timesaver in making for a very delicious dish!!!
Loved the recipe. Mom’s kicked up a notch. I used coconut sugar, not too sweet just right. Love the added spices.
Wonderful. A little too sweet for me, so, I cut the sugar by about 1/3. Great recipe.
Love The recipe! What got my attention was the five stars on this recipe! It tastes just like my mom used to make! I never thought I I could make candied sweet potatoes as good as these are! A Family favoite for Thanksgiving and Christmas! It’s usually the first thing to go! Perfect sauce also. I did change the recipe a little. I do use the same amount of sweet potatoes and butter and vanilla and a little salt. I start with one cup of sugar and then add more if needed and Usually its not needed! I add about 2to 3 thin slices of lemon cut in fourths! I do not add the nutmeg cause I dont like it myself. They taste great! Best recipe ever!!!
I made it with only 1/4 cup of brown sugar and cinnamon. Delicious! You don’t need 2 cups of sugar.
I always make sweet potato casserole. made this for a change. Excellent, and sooo simple. family said they like it better than casserole. okay by me, it’s much easier! thank you, just loved it.
