Imagine warm French toast ready in five minutes. Need we say more?
Level: Easy
Total: 5 min
Prep: 3 min
Cook: 2 min
Yield: 1 serving

Ingredients

  1. 1 large egg
  2. 1/4 cup milk
  3. 1 1/2 tablespoons maple syrup
  4. 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  5. Kosher salt
  6. 1/2 tablespoon unsalted butter, at room temperature
  7. 1 slice white bread
  8. 1 tablespoon semi-sweet chocolate chips
  9. 1 tablespoon raisins

Instructions

  1. Whisk together the egg, milk, maple syrup, cinnamon and a pinch of salt in a large mug until combined.
  2. Evenly spread the butter on one side of the bread. Cut the bread into bite-size pieces and add them to the mug, pressing down lightly so all the bread is submerged. Sprinkle with the chocolate chips and raisins, nestling them between the bread pieces.
  3. Microwave the bread mixture on high power for 2 minutes, pausing every 30 seconds. Let the French toast cool in the mug about 1 minute before serving.

It’s ok. It wasn’t quite sweet enough so I added Carmel sauce and chocolate sauce amazing! There was liquid in the bottom of my cup still, since there was egg and I didn’t want to get salmonella, I microwaved it for another 30 seconds. It was fine after these adjustments.

Not a fan, the texture is bad.  It’s like warm sweet bread mixed with scrambled eggs.  The taste was fine, but I’d just assume make real french toast as it doesn’t take long anyhow and you don’t get the separation of ingredients.

I love making this for breakfast in the mornings. It tastes super good.

I loved this! I agree with other reviews that it was like a bread pudding. I left out the chocolate and doubled the raisins, and ended up with a mug of warm, cinnamon-raisin-maple bread yumminess! Will definitely be making again, I’d like to try it with the chocolate, and perhaps some nuts.

Tasty I think it was more like a bread pudding Barbara my wife cooked hers straight through next time I will toast the bread just to see the difference and we did leave out the chocolate thinking it be to much.no difference in the pausing……………….

This was so delicious! I bought a sort of hearty white wheat bread from the bakery section at a grocery store and was looking for recipes to use it in, as it was sort of dense for a sandwich. This was a perfect use! It tasted like a chocolate, raisin, cinnamon, bread pudding that had been baking for an hour in the oven. Being as my bread was so dense, I split this treat. I also have a small microwave, so I added 1 minute to the cook time. Thanks!

terrible! I wouldn’t have given it even one star, but it was required! It tasted like mushy curdled custard. Nothing like french toast!!
