Ingredients

  1. 6 pounds mixed apple varieties (Gala, Honeycrisp, Golden Delicious), peeled, cored and cut into eighths
  2. 1 cup apple juice or water
  3. Juice of 1/2 lemon
  4. 1/2 cup light brown sugar
  5. 1 teaspoon cinnamon

Instructions

  1. Throw the apples, apple juice and lemon juice into a pan and bring it to the boil over medium-high heat. Lower the heat and simmer until the apples are soft, about 15 minutes. Stir through the sugar and mix until melted. Add the cinnamon and stir through.
  2. Puree the mixture in a food processor, blender or food mill. If not using right away, leave to cool and then refrigerate.

I overdid it with lemon juice and the only apples I had on hand were Paula Reds. Cut the sugar in half and increased the cinnamon by half. It was a BIG hit from the 2 year old to the 72Year old.

This applesauce is the bomb!! I used organic gala apples, organic pineapple juice instead if apple juice and instead of sugar added swerve brown sweetener! Oh my word this is good!!

Delicious! I used water instead of juice, and I used a mixture of Gala, Pink Lady and Red Delicious apples. A little sweeter than what I’m used to but still very good. I’ll definitely make this again.
