Total: 30 min
Prep: 20 min
Cook: 10 min
Yield: about 20 dumplings

Ingredients

  1. 1/2 pound ground chuck
  2. 4 scallions, thinly sliced
  3. 3 tablespoons low-sodium soy sauce (recommended: Kikkoman)
  4. 3 tablespoons water, plus 3 tablespoons
  5. 1 beaten egg
  6. 1 package pot sticker wraps (recommended: Dynasty, Gyoza/Potsticker wrappers)

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, place ground beef, scallions, 3 tablespoons water and soy sauce together. Mix ingredients until combined. Place small spoonfuls of the filling onto the dumpling wrappers. Using your fingers, wet the edges of the wrappers with beaten egg and “pinch and press” the edges to seal.
  2. Preheat a large nonstick frying pan.
  3. Once skillet is hot, carefully place the dumplings into the hot frying pan; cook undisturbed for 3 minutes. Add 3 tablespoons of water and cover pan. Reduce heat to medium and cook until water evaporates, about 5 minutes

Quite good. I added fresh ginger and garlic to the beef. Husband and son loved them

Second attempt at cooking with my boyfriend and another great recipe. Easy to make, though it’s not really a two person friendly recipe. We kept getting in the way of each other. We were starving and it was late, and this was surprisingly fast to make. The dumplings came out very well. We liked the bit of crunch on the bottom of them. We made a double batch, and with the leftovers we didn’t make into dumplings we added rice as we browned the beef, and made them into a sort of fajita. It wasn’t as good as the dumplings, but still tasty.

mymarleythecat – I enjoyed this recipe very much and I am a size 4!! It’s all about moderation. If you think this is too fattening, don’t freaking make it!!! Post a real review on the quality of the recipe and keep your snide comments to yourself!!!

THIS RECIPE WAS EASY TO MAKE AND ALSO WAS VERY TASTY. THE SAUCE I MADE WAS WITH SOY SAUCE AND VINEGAR. IT WAS GOOD. I ALSO MADE THE SAUCE WITH VINEGAR AND WORCESTERSHIRE AND IT WAS GOOD.

Wendy, Connie said she used equal parts worcestershire sauce and white vinegar. It sounds a lilttle strange to me but the dumplings look so good my family is going to try them tomorrow. I’m also going to try Connies’s sauce.
The recipe looks super easy.

This is a very easy recipe and it tastes very good. In retrospect I would have just steamed the dumplings and then fried because I feel the 3 mins in the pan dried out the wrapper and made it slightly chewy… and I prefer steamed dumplings so I guess I’m a little bias! To steam I would double the water amount in the steaming process and let steam for 8-10 mins.

The dipping sauce is also very easy. I did find the recipe on the site here but it called for making a large amount. It’s basically equal parts soy sauce and rice wine vinegar… the recipe also called for equal parts scallions but I say scallions to taste and lastly sesame seed oil also to taste but it’s very strong so a little dab will do ya.

I paired this with Rachael Ray’s Special Fried Rice and it made a very nice dinner. This would be great for a dinner party because the dumplings can be prepared in advanced and cooked just before the meal or it would even be a great alternative to chips on a snack table at a party.

HELP! If anyone recalls what Connie Chung said to do to re-create the “restaurant-style” dipping sauce to serve with these dumplings, I would love to hear from you! I LOVE dumplings, but rarely get to go our for Chinese food as my husband is not a fan. Can’t wait to make these, but I want the sauce recipe first…

In truth, I haven’t prepared these, yet. But the recipe itself sounds excellent and easily prepared with all ingredients found in my local grocery.
