Ingredients

  1. One 750-milliliter bottle Cabernet Sauvignon
  2. 2 cups apple cider
  3. 1/4 cup brandy
  4. 1/4 cup agave syrup
  5. 2 pods star anise
  6. 2 cinnamon sticks
  7. 2 oranges
  8. 1 lemon

Instructions

  1. Combine the wine, cider, brandy, agave, anise and cinnamon in a saucepan.
  2. Zest the oranges into long strips, then juice them, along with the lemon.
  3. Bring the wine mixture to a simmer, then let simmer for 8 minutes. Turn the heat off and stir in the juices.
  4. Divide the orange strips among 8 to 10 warm mugs, then ladle the wine into them.
