Ingredients
- 1 pound bacon
- 1 onion, chopped
- 6 cloves garlic, chopped
- Four 15-ounce cans baked beans, drained
- 1/2 cup light molasses
- 1 cup dark brown sugar
- 1 cup barbecue sauce
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F.
- Line a plate with a paper towel. In a saute pan over medium heat, add the bacon. Cook until tender and cooked but not crisp, flipping once, about 8 minutes. Remove to the paper-towel lined plate. Let cool and then chop.
- To the pan with the bacon drippings, add the onion and cook until tender, soft and translucent, about 7 minutes. Add the garlic and cook until fragrant, another 1 to 2 minutes. Remove from heat.
- To a large bowl, add the baked beans, molasses, dark brown sugar, barbecue sauce and bacon mixture. Pour the mixture into a 9-by-13-inch baking dish and bake, uncovered, for about 1 hour. Remove from the oven and let cool for at least 10 minutes before serving.

I’ve been making this for a few years now for our Halloween party. Everyone loves them. When I first made it, I didn’t like how saucy it was but what I do now is make it the day before and bake for 30 mins. Then day of the party, I just warm it up in slow cooker. Turns out just right and also gives the flavors more time to meld together. Definite keeper!
Best baked beans I’ve ever had! Get so many compliments on this dish. And it’s so incredibly easy. This is now a staple for when I need to take a dish to a bbq.
I made these beans for our first BBQ of the season. They had great flavor and texture. They were thick and gooey, not runny. This is now my go to recipe for baked beans. I did had about 1/4 c of Cajun flavored beef brisket jerky for some extra flavor.
I made these beans for our Memorial Day picnic and they were Awesome! My family agreed that this recipe is a keeper. Thanks Tiffani!! 🙂
