Ingredients

  1. 2 tablespoons chipotle chile powder
  2. 2 tablespoons sugar
  3. 1 lime wedge
  4. 1 1/2 ounces tequila, such as Casamigos Anejo Tequila
  5. 1 ounce sweet BBQ sauce
  6. 3/4 ounce fresh lime juice
  7. 1/2 ounce clover honey
  8. 1/4 ounce maple syrup

Instructions

  1. For the chipotle-sugar: On a plate or in a bowl, mix together the chipotle powder and sugar until combined. Rub a lime wedge on half of the rim of a glass, then dip the rim into the chipotle/sugar mix.
  2. For the cocktail: Add the tequila, BBQ sauce, lime juice, honey and maple syrup to a mixing tin. Add a large ice cube and shake vigorously. Place a fresh ice cube in the prepared glass and strain the drink over the ice.

No, so disappointed. I really, really wanted to like this. When I saw this on the show, I thought, hmmm, that looks interesting. Sadly, not great. Way too sweet. I think there may be a decent drink in there somewhere, but it needs some major tweaking. More acid, lots less sugar? The smoky notes of the BBQ sauce with the tequila are very nice, however.

Not a hit!  I love BBQ!  But this is just not good.  Maybe 1/4 tbsp of BBQ sauce…not what I’d serve and can’t believe the cast liked it enough to air on the show.

Outstanding!  Its a tequila version of a bloody mary!

I nixed the honey and sweet rim…too sweet.

It was a bit like drinking BBQ sauce. Not the worse thing, but not something worth repeating.
