Golden Sweet Cornbread

  4.8 – 0 reviews  • Cornbread Recipes

There is no mix used in this scratch-made cornbread recipe. Chili, ribs, or grilled chicken make for a delicious feast. This sweet, handmade cornbread might even be used to make stuffing for your Thanksgiving meal! This is a dish my mother made for me when I was younger and is now a family favorite. Serve with your preferred spread, such as butter, jam, or honey.

This recipe does have a great flavor but not as moist as I had hoped. I did it in both a cupcake pan and an 11” round baker. I couldn’t find my 9”.

Very yummy. I used butter for oil. I used 1/2 cup of sugar and it was sweet enough for me. Came out perfect. Thank you for this recipe!

This is the BEST cornbread recipe!!!! It is super easy and comes out perfectly cooked every time! Not too crumbly but also not too dense 🙂 I cook mine in a greased cast iron skillet. I love it with some butter and honey. Yum!!!

I made this for the first time yesterday and followed the instructions exactly but I baked it in my air fryer. I baked it at 360° for 25 minutes. Unfortunately when I pulled it out and flipped it onto a plate the bottom was still raw and in the middle. I was able to slide the cornbread back into my air fryer and cooked it for another 10 minutes. It was fully cooked by then but looked like it was ran over by a car. LOL I made tamale pie that night so I just crumbled the cornbread over the top and my husband inhaled it down. He loved it! I would’ve preferred a better presentation but it tasted amazing so at least I know now for the future how long to bake it in the air fryer.

Great base for cornbread! A few changes on my end to make it less crumbly and more balanced with the sweetness. I split the sugar ratio to a third white sugar, a third brown sugar, and a third honey. Decreased the amount of baking powder to 3 tsp. Had to bake it for closer to 30 minutes, and laid of piece of foil on in the last 10 to prevent burning.
