Easy Shepherd’s Pie

  4.6 – 112 reviews  • Shepherd’s Pie Recipes

A traditional British delicacy called sticky toffee pudding is simpler to make than you would imagine. For a tasty, well-liked dessert, serve warm with cream, ice cream, or custard. The sponge cake has dates that have been finely diced in it to give it extra moisture, but it doesn’t taste at all like dates.

Prep Time: 10 mins
Cook Time: 30 mins
Total Time: 40 mins
Servings: 6

Ingredients

  1. 1 pound ground beef
  2. 2 cups hot mashed potatoes
  3. 4 ounces PHILADELPHIA Cream Cheese, cubed
  4. 1 cup KRAFT Shredded Cheddar Cheese, divided
  5. 2 cloves garlic, minced
  6. 4 cups frozen mixed vegetables, thawed
  7. 1 cup beef gravy

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C).
  2. Brown meat in a large skillet. While the meat is browning, mix potatoes, cream cheese, 1/2 cup shredded cheese, and garlic until well blended.
  3. Drain meat. Return to skillet; stir in vegetables and gravy. Spoon into a 9-inch square baking dish. Cover with potato mixture and remaining 1/2 cup shredded cheese.
  4. Bake in the preheated oven until heated through, about 20 minutes.
  5. Save 70 calories, 9 grams of fat, and 5 grams of saturated fat per serving by preparing with extra lean ground beef, Philadelphia Neufchatel Cream Cheese, 1/3 Less Fat than Cream Cheese, and Kraft 2% Milk Shredded Reduced Fat Cheddar Cheese.
  6. Prepare as directed, omitting the garlic and substituting 3/4 cup Kraft Original Barbecue Sauce mixed with 1/2 teaspoon onion powder for the gravy.
  7. Use instant mashed potatoes. Prepare potatoes as directed on the package, omitting the milk. This way when you add the cream cheese the potatoes stay fluffy.

Love the potatoes! I’ll cook the meat with onions and garlic next time to add a little more flavor to the meat / veggie mixture

I made mushroom gravy turned out nice!

Very good! Made it exactly to the recipe except added a small onion. Everything I make with hamburger gets an onion!

Made this recipe with a few changes. Didn’t have cream cheese, so made mashed potatoes with plant butter and lactose free milk. Daughter needs gf/dairy free. She has plant based shredded cheese so I used that. Added 1 stalk of celery, a medium onion and 15 oz can mixed veggies, plus Worcestershire sauce to meat and brown gravy. The 3 of us loved it! I will try with the instant potatoes with garlic too. Definitely a keeper here! We only had one serving left!

I used lamb and added some sautéed scallions with a bit of fresh thyme and rosemary. I also used a truffle butter in the mashed potatoes. So good!

I made a turkey version with turkey gravy and a vegetarian option with chili seasoning. My kids say it tasted great!

followed all the directions but used Manwich instead of brown gravy. The whole family loved this. Will definitely make it again. Next time I will add mushrooms.

This recipe was quick and easy as well as delicious. Followed the recipe and instructed since it was my first time making it. Next time I’ll probably add diced tomatoes to the meat as well

I liked it. After reading some of the suggestions in the comments, I think I will make it again and try some of the comment variations such as using Idahoan Roasted Garlic Instant Mashed Potatoes instead of my regular from scratch mashed potatoes.

Absolutely delicious!!! I made it from beefless grounds and made my gravy with beef broth…
Kimberly Lynch
Loved it! It’s a great recipe and easy to make! After I drained the meat, I made the gravy with the drippings. I also added salt and pepper. Definitely a repeat!

I tripled this recipe, as I feed a big family and it was gone! They loved it!

Excellent. I made a rouge and gravy from the drippings. Added mushrooms for an earthy rich flavor., carrots, yellow onion. Seasoned the organic ground beef with kosher salt, black pepper, oregano and rosemary.

I added sweet onions, for a bit more flavor and a pinch of chili powder for a little kick. Turned out great

My family and I love this meal. It was an instant crowd pleaser.

I had to cook the hamburger, veggie, gravy mix for a while. Just because the veggies are thawed, doesn’t mean that they’re cooked. This is a recipe I cook often.

cr of cel, red wine, gr beans, touch of dr., x cr.ch., garlic

Turned out great! I added an extra cup of gravy and quite a bit of seasoning to prevent blandness but overall spot on for time and family loved it!

I put some diced onions in with the beef. Added salt, pepper, Dijon mustard and golden mushroom soup. Family loves it.

I took everyone’s advice and added onions and garlic while browning the beef. Because my family is a little extra I added sour cream, butter, cream cheese, cheese and some well done crumbled bacon to the potatoes. I also layered the top with shredded cheese instead of sprinkling it. All I can say is…YUMMY! This is now a family favorite and will definitely be repeated. Fast, easy and so tasty. Way more flavor than any other shepherds pie I’ve tasted. So good!!
