I lived in San Diego for 25 years and ate at OTMC regularly. I never ate anything BUT their Carnitas because they were so good. This is not OTMC’s Carnitas. If it is, I clearly drank too many Cervesa’s. Maybe this was submitted by a disgruntled employee.
If you are ever in San Diego, go to Old Town Mexican Cafe. It is close to the airport and well worth the trip. Order the Carnitas and you will taste the difference.
This recipe is a fraud. NO oregano, salt, garlic. It was a waste of good pork. Please avoid using this.
Do not waste your time trying this recipe…Years of going to OTMex tell me that food network was bamboozled by someone if they think this is their recipe!
These are not the carnitas I’ve had at Old Town Mex! Who are you and why are you posing as OTMC
Wack recipe. You really gonna just simmer pork in plain old water, with no seasoning whatsoever, and no acid of any kind to help break down the collagen? BOGUS.
Not very tasty, no crunch, and very plain. NOT CARNITAS
