Ingredients

  1. ¾ cup rolled oats
  2. ½ cup peanut butter
  3. ⅓ cup honey
  4. ⅓ cup cocoa powder
  5. ⅓ cup shredded coconut
  6. ¼ cup wheat germ
  7. 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  8. 1 pinch ground cinnamon

Instructions

  1. Mix oats, peanut butter, honey, cocoa powder, coconut, wheat germ, vanilla extract, and cinnamon together in a bowl. Roll oat mixture into ping pong-sized balls. Place in a container and store in refrigerator.

I have made this recipe many times. It is simple, easy to do and few ingredients which make up this energy ball. It keeps us going, a ball or two is enough. I would make this again and again.

I’ve made these a few times and love them. I made a few changes: I used all natural peanut butter, unsweetened cocoa, unsweetened coconut, gluten free Bobs red mill oatmeal, and flax seed instead of wheat germ. I increased peanut butter and oatmeal, and decreased honey and cocoa, each by 1/4 cup from recipe. I added 2 tbsp med-heat coconut oil.

I really liked these. They were extremely easy and fast to make. Took me 15 minutes total. Most of that time was spent gathering ingredients and measuring. I’m not a huge peanut butter fan so I used almond butter. I was out of wheat germ so I used flax seeds. It made exactly 12 ping pong sized balls. They were a bit sticky and mushy so I popped them in the refrigerator. Once they were chilled they were firmer and not sticky. The cocoa powder gave them a bit of a bitter kick. Although unexpected I enjoyed it. If you’re not a fan of bitter chocolate I would use milk chocolate powder. Under the bitter taste they were very sweet. I could only eat 2 before my stomach started to protest. They are surprisingly filling.

Delish! I used crunchy peanut butter and added more than a pinch of cinnamon. I just shook some in to taste, probably close to half of a tablespoon of cinnamon. Once it was all mixed in the extra cinnamon was not overpowering. I added the extra because I wanted to be able to taste the cinnamon and I thought it would get lost with just a pinch of it.

My son is suuuuper picky and he loved them! My tip is to put the oats and coconut in a food processor to make it more fine prior to mixing with the other ingredients. Kids can be turned off by textures sometimes. I told him it was similar to a Reese’s peanut butter cup with “cereal crunchies” in it 😉

Just put them in fridge… I didn’t have any wheat germ, so I substituted same amount of hemp seeds. Also rolled them in powdered sugar, so they wouldn’t be as sticky. Recipe made 15 balls, could’ve been 16 if they were all uniform :).

I was a little too generous with the cocoa powder and forgot the vanilla so mine ended up a little dry. Will try again, excited to play around with this recipe.

these were excellent!. I just swapped out protein powder in place of the coconut because I don’t like coconut . I also used quick cooking oats because they are smaller. I used about 1/2 honey and 1/2 maple syrup and 1/2 tsp cinnamon. helps to chill dough before making the balls.

I made these adding almonds and granola and chocolate chips. Made the treats with plastic ice cube trays which make perfect bites and they just pop out.
