Level: Easy
Total: 10 min
Active: 10 min
Yield: 1 great big sammy!

Ingredients

  1. 1 demi baguette
  2. Thick slices of Camembert
  3. Sliced deli salami
  4. Thinly sliced tomato
  5. Thinly sliced red onion
  6. Thinly sliced green bell pepper
  7. Shredded romaine lettuce
  8. Sliced kalamata olives
  9. Thinly sliced pickled peppers
  10. Cornichons
  11. Vinaigrette, recipe follows
  12. 3 tablespoons (45 grams) white wine vinegar
  13. 1 small to medium shallot, very finely chopped
  14. 1 tablespoon (15 grams) Dijon mustard
  15. 1/2 cup (100 grams) extra-virgin olive oil
  16. Kosher salt and freshly ground black pepper

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F.
  2. Slice open the baguette and place it on a baking sheet. Top one half with a layer of the Camembert and the other half with the salami (go for about 2 layers of salami—not too much, not too little). Bake until the bread is toasty and the cheese is melty, about 5 minutes.
  3. Transfer to a serving plate and top with tomatoes, onions, bell pepper, a big pile of lettuce, olives, pickled peppers, cornichons and more cornichons, and drizzle liberally with the Vinaigrette. Sandwich together and enjoy!
  4. In a large measuring cup, combine the vinegar and shallot and let it sit for a few minutes so the shallot can mellow out. Whisk in the mustard and then drizzle in the olive oil while whisking continuously so that it emulsifies. Season with salt and pepper.

This sandwich I made without the vinaigrette and it’s really good! The textures and saltiness is phenomenal!
