One of the most popular dishes in my house, this one is requested on a weekly basis. I want others could share my enjoyment.

Ingredients
- 2 tablespoons flour
- 1 ½ teaspoons dried sage
- 1 teaspoon minced garlic
- 1 teaspoon ground thyme
- 1 teaspoon salt
- ½ teaspoon ground allspice
- ½ teaspoon paprika
- 4 boneless pork chops
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 onion, thinly sliced
- 2 red apples, thinly sliced
- ½ cup apple juice
- 1 tablespoon brown sugar
Instructions
- Mix flour, sage, garlic, thyme, salt, allspice, and paprika together in a bowl. Sprinkle about 1 tablespoon of the flour mixture over both sides of each pork chop.
- Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Cook pork chops in hot oil until browned completely, 2 to 3 minutes more side. Remove pork chops to a platter.
- Cook and stir onion in the oil and drippings retained in the skillet until tender, about 3 minutes; add apple slices and continue cooking until the apple slices are tender, about 2 minutes. Pour apple juice over the onion and apple mixture; add brown sugar and remaining flour mixture and stir to dissolve.
- Return pork chops to the skillet. Bring the liquid to a boil, reduce heat to low, and cook at a simmer until the pork is no longer pink in the center, about 5 minutes. An instant-read thermometer inserted into the center should read 145 degrees F (63 degrees C).

Great! We especially enjoyed the apples! I forgot to sprinkle flour mixture on pork before browning but rubbed it on while onions cooking and added rest as directed- still good!
Yes we loved it!!! I used cranberry juice to replace the apple juice and it worked out okay!
Fantastic, yummy, easy. I followed the recipe except used a full cup of apple juice (instead of 1/2 cup) which worked well. The recipe said simmer for 5 minutes at the end, but it took about 15-20 minutes to cook my chops through. Very tasty.
The whole family raved about this recipe. It is a recipe that has to be written down and put into the rotation, per request. I make it exactly as written and it was nearly perfect. I did have to saute the apples for 5 minutes instead of two, but that could be because my slices were thicker than the recipe-writer.
This was an easy recipe to follow. Unfortunately I did not have sage but the pork chops were still flavorful and tender.
It’s a keeper.
Love this recipe!! And it is flexible too- I’ve changed up the herbs with what is fresh and it turns out well. Apple cider is tasty with it too. A family favorite!
I did not enjoy this. I made it exactly as described, and I finished cooking it in the oven. The flavour was not good. I liked that it was saucy, but it was almost bitter I think the flavour profile will work for some people but not us.
I don’t think I used all of the spices, being that my family doesn’t like a whole lot in their food. They were good and I especially liked the combo of apple and pork.
I love this dish!! Its so easy to make.
Took a bit of prep work (fresh garlic, fresh sage, etc), but luckily hubby helped with the onions and apples. I had 7 bone in chops so I was a little heavy on the heavy side for some of the spices that were put onto the chops. I couldn’t find the Apple juice I purchased, so I used white grape juice, only to find the apple juice after dinner. The white grape worked very well. I will definitely make this again and would consider making it for company if I prep some of the items in advance. I asked hubby what rating yo give this. He said 4.5 stars… which is the exact Allrecipes rating.
I prepared per re ipe. It was fine, but I would not consider it to be special. Basically, pork chops and sauteed apples, which I like but not unusual. Seasoning not quite to my taste. I do recommend adding the flour to cold juice in order to reduce lumping.
Delicious!
I liked the flavors, but I think I would skip the apple juice flour spice mixture and wouldn’t add the pork back to the pan with the apple juice flour spice mixture. I like a crusty sear on the pork and adding it to the liquid softened it. I also like onions and apples a little firmer, so I wouldn’t simmer in the liquid–just sautee until tender.
I combined all the ingredients and finished in oven for 12 min @ 350 like another comment recommend.
I was out of ground sage…so I used a maple sage. It was delicious. We will be making this again
This is my first review of a recipe on the site, even though I have made many. I absolutely love this! I did not change a thing. Although I did not have allspice, I looked up an equivalent which included cinnamon, cloves and nutmeg (had all of them). I did use a cast-iron skillet as someone else suggested. Chops were nicely browned, and then easily simmered after the onions and apples were ready., All I can say is FABULOUS and I will make it again and again and again!
It was delicious. But the instructions could use some refinement. It doesn’t say how to prepare the onion and garlic. We cut the onion in half and sliced it and we minced the garlic. But perhaps the author meant us to use garlic powder as the raw garlic did not combine well with the flour and it made it difficult to coat the pork chops with it. Next time we will put minced garlic in with the apple slices and not in the flour mixture.
I cut the recipe in half or just the wife and I but it’s an excellent way to have pork chops occasionally I will put a batch of stove top stuffing underneath and do it in a casserole
This recipe is originally from a McCormick seasoning pack. It is my absolute favorite way to cook pork chops! Perfect as is.
This recipe was a hit with my family! My husband said it tasted like a dish from a restaurant. Will definitely make again.
