Yield: 10 to 12 servings

Ingredients

  1. 5 pounds ground chuck (at least 80 percent lean)
  2. 3 cups finely chopped spinach (optional)
  3. 1 cup chopped sweet onion
  4. 3 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
  5. Kosher salt
  6. Freshly ground black pepper
  7. Vegetable oil for the grill
  8. 12 cheese slices (American, Monterey Jack, pepper jack)
  9. 12 hamburger buns
  10. Applewood-smoked bacon slices, cooked and halved
  11. Tomato slices
  12. Green leaf lettuce leaves
  13. White onion slices
  14. Dill or sweet and spicy sliced pickles (I like Wickles Pickles brand)
  15. Ketchup
  16. Yellow mustard
  17. Mayonnaise

Instructions

  1. Preheat the grill to medium-high. In a large bowl, mix the ground beef, spinach, onion, Worcestershire sauce, and 3 teaspoons each of the salt and pepper.
  2. Divide the meat equally into 12 portions and form into patties about 1 inch thick. Season both sides of the patties lightly with salt and pepper.
  3. Lightly brush the grill grates with vegetable oil and place the patties on the grates. Grill the patties for 4 to 5 minutes, then flip and grill 4 minutes more for medium. Place a slice of cheese on top of the patties and cook an additional 1 minute or until melted. Toast the buns (if desired), cut sides down, 30 seconds to 1 minute, or until lightly toasted.
  4. Serve burgers with desired toppings.

Love Martina McBride…by far my favorite host EVER on Food Network!  So hope she’s coming back!!!  Love her demeanor–so down-to-earth and natural, and ALL of her food looks incredible.  Getting ready to make her All-American Burger.  Watched the rerun episode early this morning and could have sworn she put Dijon mustard as an ingredient in the burger, but it does not show on the recipe.  I literally want to try every single thing she made when she was a weekly host on Martina’s Table!
