Ingredients

  1. 1 (14-ounce) can sweetened condensed milk
  2. 1 (12-ounce) can evaporated milk
  3. 3 limes, juiced
  4. 1 lime, zested
  5. 1 (5.5-ounce) package Maria crackers, or 1 (4.8-ounce) package graham crackers
  6. 1 lime, for garnish, optional

Instructions

  1. Blend the condensed milk, evaporated milk and lime juice in a blender until smooth.
  2. Spoon 1 cup of the lime cream into the bottom of a 6-cup glass trifle dish. Sprinkle with 1/3 of the lime zest. Then arrange 1/3 of the crackers over the cream, breaking them as needed to form a single layer. Repeat to make 2 more layers, ending with a layer of cream and a sprinkle of lime zest. Cover tightly with plastic wrap and chill until set, at least 2 hours, or overnight.
  3. To serve, thinly slice 1 lime and arrange the lime slices in an overlapping layer on top as garnish, if desired.

Amazing easy dessert. I have made this countless of times. I just do an extra lime because I like it tangy! Thanks for sharing.

Very good, good for a crowd if doubled.

I added 1 8 oz package of cream cheese to the mixture (have even added 2!). It reduced the sweetness and bumps up the creaminess. It becomes almost like a lime cheesecake trifle. Yum!

This did not work out for me at all despite having followed the instructions carefully. The biscuits were floating and the whole thing was a runny mess. Even if it had set up well, the dessert was way ridiculously too sweet. My family struggled to finish a bowl each and I had to throw the remaining away. Will not make this again.

I gave this 5 stars because when you know how to do it right, it is an amazing dessert! I think it’s necessary to adjust the recipe so that it reads fresh squeezed limes = to 2/3 cup juice. I made a double batch using 1 1/3 cup lime juice and it whipped up beautifully, almost instantly, into a creamy, fluffy decadent mousse like texture. If I only used 6 of my limes, insted of the 13 I used,(at only .10 a piece it was still dirt cheap, mine would’ve been runny too. Served this to 60 staff members at my kid’s school. I can’t say enough about how big a hit it was and how the recipe was requested. It’s amazing that 4 ingredients, inexpensive ones at that, can make such a show stopper! The Maria crackers were great too.I definitely plan on trying it with fresh lemon juice, but I did want to know if anyone out there made this with fresh oranges? I know they are lower in acid and didn’t know if the milks would set up with just fresh squeezed orange juice. Thanks Marcela!

I brought this to a church picnic and it was a hit. To fill the trifle bowl I have and to make enough for a pot luck I had to double the recipe. I didn’t have the Maria crackers so had to use the grahams and that was fine. I’ll find the other crackers for next time I make it. The only change I made was to add a sprinkling of toasted coconut with the lime zest and people loved it. Definitely a “make a lot” recipe.

This is a light, refreshing, delicious, and EASY dessert perfect for any time of year! The cream mixture stared off very runny, but it set up perfectly after a few hours. I chose to use lime zest on every layer rather than just on the top which intensified the lime flavor. I don’t agree with the graham cracker alternative. I found the Maria crackers and liken them more to Nilla wafers than graham crackers.

Amazing! I made this today while fasting so I couldn’t taste it but it turned out perfect!
So easy and so fresh! Creamy-delish and bright! I think adding a layer of fruit like strawberries stewed in sugar syrup or even fresh-cut, sprinkled with sugar and left for a while to draw out the juice would be a great addition of flavor and color to this recipe, as well as some height.

My friends and I take turns having cook over movie nights. Oh my goodness this desert went over so well, they all wanted this recipe!!!
